Did you know the cornea has no blood vessels to receive oxygen, nourishment, or protect it against infection? Instead, tears and a fluid in the back of the eye (aqueous humor) nourish the cornea. Over wearing contact lenses can decrease the amount of oxygen that reaches the cornea, increasing the chance of an infection.
